I just had to find some space on the disk, insert the DVD and the rest was straightforward.<\/p>\n<p>For those who know me it might be surpising that I use Windows. Well I do, but only for Flight Simulator. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><br \/>\nAs a future reference, here is a list of things I installed or configured:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Windows 7<\/b> &#8211; quite simple procedure<\/li>\n<li><b>Firefox<\/b> &#8211; musthave<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><i>flash plugin<\/i> &#8211; open a page with flash, and click on the popup to install<\/li>\n<li><i>flashblock<\/i> &#8211; I quickly realised the need when I started browsing<\/li>\n<li><i>adblock pro<\/i> &#8211; see above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li><b>bluetooth headset<\/b> &#8211; works out of the box<\/li>\n<li><b>Flight Simulator 2004<\/b> &#8211; takes some time<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><i>realism settings<\/i> &#8211; display flying tips: off<\/li>\n<li><i>realism settings<\/i> &#8211; autorudder: off<\/li>\n<li><i>resolution<\/i> &#8211; a bit bigger than 640&#215;480<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li><b>Joystick<\/b> &#8211; works out of the box, only a calibration was neeed<\/li>\n<li><b>Flight1 ATR 72-500<\/b> &#8211; my favourite aircraft so far<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><i>text-o-matic<\/i> &#8211; to install some more textures<\/li>\n<li><i>F1 view utility<\/i> &#8211; I didn&#8217;t find it that useful yet<\/li>\n<li><i>serivce pack 3<\/i> &#8211; TODO<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li><b>IvAp<\/b> &#8211; first install wasn&#8217;t successful, but the second one was OK<\/li>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><i>config<\/i> &#8211; populate TCAS: on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My Windows XP kept crashing when I was running Microsoft Flight Simulator, so I decided to upgrade to Windows 7.
